Sweet Return and Bitter Memories: Rethinking Coffee Culture and Overseas Return Migration from Europe to Rural Fujian, China

Abstract This ethnography examines coffee habits among return migrants in their place of origin a rural county Fujian. Many occupy low-skill jobs the catering and textile industry Italy, Austria, Hungary. I argue that does not represent an identification with cosmopolitanism, but rather evokes memories hardships these are subject to during overseas stay. The deeper implication this study lies rethinking migration. Through practice embedded culture, assess meaning migration for migrants. Their is happening at time when emigration only road economic advancement, as it was two decades ago localized phenomenon its peak.
